2010 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Rodgers Creek Vineyard
Vineyard
This concentrated Pinot Noir comes from a single vineyard perched high on a ridge between Petaluma and Sonoma, exposed to both wind and fog from the Pacific Ocean. Thin, well-drained volcanic soils and gusty winds keep yields low and flavors and aromas highly concentrated. A heritage selection of Pommard gives pure dark cherry fruit while Dijon clones that thrive in the cold climate provide firm structure and velvety richness to the wine.
Vintage
In a characteristically cold vineyard, this was an uncommonly chilly growing season. While this was challenging to growers (smaller crop) and winemakers (condensed harvest) alike, the longer-than-usual growing season yielded outstanding fruit, richly flavored, with excellent acidity and balance.
Tasting Notes
This wine displays classic aromatics of black cherry, strawberry coulis, violets and baking spice. On the palate, complex layers of sweet red and black fruits and plum jam mingle with spicy oak and forest floor notes with a brisk minerality on the finish. Alcohol, 14.5%; pH, 3.68; total acidity, 5.8 g/L; 472 cases produced. |

Our Monterey Pinot Noir is blended from a few acres in each of four vineyards scattered along benchlands near the Santa Lucia Highlands that are subject to the cool, foggy influence of Monterey Bay.

We blend our Carneros Pinot Noir from select blocks in three vineyards spread evenly on an east-west line across the heart of the appellation, all exposed to winds off San Francisco Bay.

Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
The Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is sourced from two of our vineyards in Carneros, plus a third in the foggy western reaches of the Russian River Valley.
